Cortez Masto Applauds Administration's Appointments to Key Usda Positions in Nevada

Today, U.S. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) applauded the Biden administration's appointment of two Nevadans to key positions at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The White House recently announced that Lucas Ingvoldstad will be USDA State Director of Rural Development for Nevada. Last month, the USDA also announced that Janice Kolvet will serve as the Farm Service Agency (FSA) State Executive Director for Nevada. Senator Cortez Masto worked with the administration and her Democratic and Republican colleagues to recommend these Nevadans for positions that will serve Nevada's rural communities.

"Rural Nevadans deserve experienced, dedicated leaders who understand the issues that impact their communities," said Senator Cortez Masto. "Ingvoldstad and Kolvet were both born and raised in Nevada and know how important it is to work with the Silver State's farmers, ranchers, and small business owners on their efforts to continue to recover from the pandemic, combat climate change, and expand their local economies."

Senator Cortez Masto is a strong supporter of Nevada's rural and agricultural communities. She has introduced bipartisan legislation to put rural Western communities on an equal footing when it comes to applying for critical infrastructure grants to improve school buildings, promote small businesses, and bolster telehealth and health care services. She's introduced comprehensive legislation to help bolster wildfire prevention efforts, fund state-of-the-art firefighting equipment and programs, and support recovery efforts for communities impacted by fires.
