Senators Reverend Warnock, Ossoff Secure Nearly $20 Million in Electric Vehicle Network Grants for Georgia

U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) announced that Georgia will receive $19,978,342 in federal investments for Fiscal Year 2022 to build out Georgia's electric vehicle infrastructure network across the state. These funds, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will be dispersed by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes $135 million in electric vehicle infrastructure investments across Georgia over the next five years, as well as $5 billion in investments for clean and electric school buses, of which Blue Bird is an industry leader and already building in Fort Valley, GA, for schools across the country. Senators Reverend Warnock and Ossoff voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which will create jobs, strengthen the economy, and improve infrastructure across Georgia.

"It's so great to see the bipartisan infrastructure package already making a big impact on Georgia's infrastructure and economy," said Senator Reverend Warnock. "The best way to have a sustainable economy is to build a stable ecological environment, and the infusion of nearly $20 million to build out Georgia's electric vehicle infrastructure network will make it more affordable and practical to own an electric vehicle, while also ensuring that Georgia will be an engine for clean energy job creation in the future."

"Georgia is leading the way in EV manufacturing, and Senator Reverend Warnock and I are accelerating the completion of a statewide EV charging network," said Senator Ossoff.

This announcement comes as Senator Reverend Warnock continues his push to pass bipartisan competition legislation to create jobs, and boost manufacturing and innovation in Georgia. The Make It in America Act, modeled from the Senate-passed U.S. Innovation and Competition Act championed by Senators Warnock and Ossoff, will bolster support for Georgia's growing tech and manufacturing industries--including electric vehicle company Rivian's Atlanta-area plant, and West Point's Kia facility.
