Press Release

Date: Jan. 21, 2022
Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Today Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) announced several lakes and dams in Middle Tennessee will receive $183,315,000 in new funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Disaster Relief Law. This new federal investment comes as the Biden Administration continues its nationwide focus on easing supply chain bottlenecks, improving infrastructure resilience, and creating jobs for families.

The improvements or repairs for Middle Tennessee break down as follows:

$173,325,000 to Center Hill Lake
$2,475,000 to Cordell Hull Dam & Reservoir
$4,115,000 to Dale Hollow Lake
$1,200,000 to J Piercy Priest Dam & Reservoir
$2,200,000 to Old Hickory Lock & Dam

"Middle Tennesseans know that some of our lakes and dams need serious improvements," Rep. Jim Cooper said. "Tennessee has already received historic funding and thanks to our infrastructure and disaster relief laws, even more is on the way to help us upgrade Middle Tennessee's water projects."

The Biden Administration will invest $14 billion in 500 projects across America that focus on strengthening critical infrastructure and supply chains. Due to decades of underinvestment and accelerating climate threats, project operations and maintenance have fallen behind. This has created delays and increased costs. It has also left families and businesses vulnerable to severe weather events in Middle Tennessee.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was signed by President Biden on November 15, 2021. The Disaster Relief Supplemental was signed by President Biden on September 30, 2021. No Republican in the Tennessee congressional delegation voted for either of these bills.
