Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) issued the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 3076, the Postal Service Reform Act of 2022.

"The United States Postal Service is an integral service for all Americans, particularly those living in rural areas like many of the Fourth District communities I represent," said Cole. "Indeed, USPS provides a vital service to all Americans for essential mail, including delivery of critical prescriptions. While private delivery companies are not obligated to serve every household, the Postal Service is constitutionally required to do so.

"As a constitutional institution, Congress is responsible for ensuring USPS successfully adapts with the changing times, so it can remain solvent and capable of serving all Americans into the foreseeable future without loss of service. Although this bipartisan legislation is not perfect, it is a notable example of what can be achieved when Democrats and Republicans work together in good faith to benefit all Americans."

Earlier this week, Cole also made remarks during the Rules Committee's hearing on the legislation. Video is available here and transcript here.

The bipartisan legislation was endorsed by numerous companies and stakeholders that rely on the Postal Service -- including eBay, Amazon, CVS, the National Retail Federation, Pitney Bowes, OSM Worldwide, Pirate Ship, International Paper and the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association.
