Senator Collins Welcomes Falmouth Student She Nominated to Senate Page Program

U.S. Senator Susan Collins welcomed Lucy Taylor of Falmouth to the U.S. Senate Page Program in Washington, D.C. Senator Collins nominated Lucy for the Senate Page Program's spring session following a competitive selection process. She is the daughter of Adam and Beth Taylor.

"I was proud to nominate Lucy to the Senate Page Program, and I know she will do an exceptional job in this important role," said Senator Collins. "Lucy is a highly motivated student with an impressive record of academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities. This opportunity will provide her with a unique opportunity to see the legislative process firsthand."

Lucy is a junior at Falmouth High School. She is an active member of the Falmouth Civil Rights Team and also volunteers as a High School Reading Buddy, supporting elementary school students. Lucy is a dedicated multi-sport student-athlete and competes nationally as a lacrosse player. She enjoys coaching, mentoring, and introducing elementary school girls to the sport that has meant so much to her.

Senate pages must be high school juniors, at least 16 years old, and attend school. Senate page duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Capitol complex. Other duties include preparing the chamber for Senate sessions and carrying bills and amendments to the desk. Pages attend classes in the early morning at the United States Senate Page School, a program fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

With 30 pages per session, only the most senior members of the Senate can sponsor pages. Maine students who are interested in applying for future sessions of the Senate Page Program can do so through Senator Collins' website at: https://www.collins.senate.gov/services/students
