U.S. Representative Mark Amodei (NV-02) today issued the following statement after House passage of H.R. 5746 -- Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act:

"Today I voted against a partisan federal takeover of elections once again. This is the fifth time in two years that Democrat leadership has flipped the bird at states' constitutional authority to run their own elections. While I don't agree with what the Nevada Legislature has recently done in regards to election rules, I will always fight for Nevada's ability to run its own elections. In an all too familiar pattern, Democrats' claims of voter suppression in Republican states are self-serving political fantasies, while states like the President's home state of Delaware afford less voting opportunity than Georgia or Texas. As such, I continue to vote no."
