Congressman Anthony G. Brown (MD-04) released the following statement on House passage of the America COMPETES Act, to bolster American innovation and competitiveness:

"For our country to remain competitive and the global leader in science, innovation, manufacturing and economic opportunity we need to invest in our workers, businesses and research. The America COMPETES Act meets the challenges posed by disruptive technologies, strained supply chains and a rising China with smart, strategic and historic economic development. This bill ensures the future is built here in America, investing in semiconductor manufacturing, supporting quality, diverse apprenticeship programs, fixing our supply chains and bolstering our STEM workforce.

"A competitive America is a thriving America. This bill will open new opportunities for Marylanders to get ahead and support their families. I urge the Senate to act quickly and get this bill to President Biden's desk as soon as possible."
