Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today voted for legislation that will position America as a global competitor and a powerhouse of innovation. The America COMPETES Act (H.R. 4521) will fix the country's supply chain issues by putting American workers on the job, increasing manufacturing and boosting our scientific and technological leadership.

"Supply chain issues have slowed our public health and economic recovery from COVID-19. Americans feel the disruptions and shortages in their daily lives and need a targeted response that will provide relief now and prepare us for the future," said Congressman Sarbanes. "The America COMPETES Act ensures our manufacturing industry can rise to this challenge. It invests in our nation's workers, connects them with skills to drive innovation and enables more students to pursue careers in STEM fields. I am especially pleased that it includes the National Apprenticeship Act, which I have championed for many years to directly connect Americans with in-demand and good-paying jobs. I am also pleased that it upholds our commitments to fight climate change, invest in clean energy and protect human rights. This legislation is a comprehensive approach to rebuilding the foundation of our economy and creating a better future for our country."
