Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after Congresswoman Kathleen Rice of New York announced she would not seek another term in the House of Representatives:

"Congresswoman Kathleen Rice will be missed by colleagues in our Caucus and the Congress when she departs from the House at the end of her term.

"Congresswoman Rice has brought a strong and independent voice to the Congress for her Nassau community: whether in her service on the exclusive Energy and Commerce Committee, her tenure as Chair of Homeland Security's Border Security, Facilitation and Operations Subcommittee, or her fight for our heroic veterans.

"On behalf of her colleagues in the House, best wishes to Congresswoman Rice as she prepares for her next chapter, personally and professionally."
