Press Release

Date: Jan. 27, 2022
Location: West Palm Beach, FL

Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement in response to President Biden signing an executive order to make sexual harassment an offense under the Uniform Code of Military Conduct. The executive order will also strengthen the military's response to domestic violence and penalize the distribution of intimate images without permission.

"Our servicemembers dedicate their lives to our country, and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect," said Rep. Frankel. "Sexual harassment in the military harms both the survivor and our broader national security. By making sexual harassment an offense in the Uniform Code of Military Conduct, President Biden's executive order will improve accountability and encourage reporting, so no survivor has to suffer in silence."

Rep. Frankel also supported the inclusion of these changes in this year's National Defense Authorization Act, which the House passed in December. The Fact Sheet on the executive order is available here.
