REP. FRANKEL ANNOUNCES FUNDING ELIGIBILITY FOR THREE LOCAL BRIDGES THROUGH NEW INFRASTRUCTURE LAW

Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) announced funding opportunities for three local bridges in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach through a new program the Department of Transportation launched today as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

"We are just starting to feel the benefits of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and safer bridges are some of the most tangible ways we'll see this historic package get to work for our community," said Rep. Frankel. "This program will update small, local bridges in Palm Beach County to ensure pedestrians, bikers, and drivers can get around safely."

The program represents the largest investment ever made in fixing bridges--dedicating $26.5 billion to states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico over the five years of the law. Florida, which currently has 408 bridges in poor condition per the Department of Transportation, will receive $49 million in Fiscal Year 2022, and over $244 million over the next five years.

The Brant Bridge in Delray Beach, the 36th Bridge in West Palm Beach, and the North Shore Bridge in West Palm Beach are all eligible for funding through this new program.
