Congressman Keller Tours USPS Harrisburg Distribution Center Ahead of Expected Postal Reform Vote

Today, Congressman Fred Keller (PA-12) toured the USPS Harrisburg Processing and Distribution Center to learn more about the center's internal operations in collecting, processing and distributing mail throughout Pennsylvania. During the tour, Congressman Keller also spoke with Michael Di Pippa, Senior Plant Manager, about how the center is working to provide more efficient services.

"There's no doubt that the USPS is in dire need of long-term reform," Congressman Keller said after the tour. "We cannot simply throw money at the challenges this agency faces without first addressing its failing business model. Meeting with staff at the USPS Harrisburg location is an important part of my job as a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform to understand what the USPS needs from Congress to operate more efficiently on behalf of the American taxpayer."

Later this week, the U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on H.R. 3076, the Postal Service Reform Act.

Background:

May 8, 2020: Congressman Keller joined members of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform in sending a letter to then-Postmaster General Megan Brennan asking for the USPS' long-term business plan and reforms.

March 23, 2021: The USPS released a 10-year plan to improve their services, referred to as the "Delivering for American" plan. This plan includes a several different improvements, including ensuring affordable six-day mail delivery and expanding seven-day package delivery, adjusts select delivery standards to improve efficiency and reliability, generates $24 billion in net revenue, and enhances customer service options.
