House Passes Rep. Delgado-Backed Bill to Address Shipping and Supply Chain Issues

Press Release

Date: Dec. 8, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) voted to pass the Ocean Shipping Reform Act. The bipartisan legislation will update our international ocean shipping laws and arm the Federal Maritime Commission with the resources it needs to protect American consumers and businesses, including farmers, against price gauging by foreign ocean carriers. These changes will strengthen our supply chain and bring down costs for American families. Rep. Delgado is a cosponsor of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act and included it in his plan to lower costs and unlock our supply chain.

"From the gas pump to the grocery store, supply chain issues have raised costs for New Yorkers," said Rep. Delgado. "Upstate families need lower costs -- not added financial stress. The bipartisan Ocean Shipping Reform Act will help unlock our supply chain, move goods faster, and lower costs."

"Shipping and supply chain issues are hurting upstate dairy farmers. I'd like to thank Representative Delgado for his support of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act as well as his leadership to promote both near and long-term approaches to addressing supply chain issues," said Barb Hanselman, Dairy Farmers of America Co-operative Member.

The Ocean Shipping Reform Act is supported by many local and national groups, including:
