Maloney and Delgado Announce $450,000 Grant for Dutchess Community College

Today, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) and Rep. Antonio Delgado (NY-19 announced $450,000 dollars in grant funding for Dutchess Community College from the Federal Aviation Administration to support students pursuing careers in aviation maintenance.

"I am proud to join Rep. Delgado in announcing that Dutchess Community College will receive $450,000 to enhance their aviation maintenance programs and support students pursuing careers in the field," said Rep. Maloney. "Aviation maintenance is critical to our national security and function of the entire transportation industry. With this grant, DCC will help students start successful careers in this essential trade."

"Empowering young folks to take on an education and career in the aviation industry will support and maintain our country's transportation system for years to come," said. Rep. Delgado. "I am proud to join Rep. Maloney in announcing this funding that will help prepare New York students to pursue aviation maintenance careers. I will keep fighting for programs that support trade students as they enter the workforce."

-The aviation workforce development grants for aviation maintenance technical workers support proposals that increase interest and prepare students to pursue aviation maintenance careers.
-The types of projects supported under the new Aviation Maintenance Technical Workers workforce development grants:
--Establish new educational programs that teach technical skills used in aviation maintenance, including purchasing equipment, or to improve existing such programs
--Enhance aviation maintenance technical education or aviation maintenance industry workforce
--To establish scholarships or apprenticeships for individuals pursuing employment in the aviation maintenance industry
--Support outreach about careers in the aviation maintenance industry to:
---Primary, secondary, and post-secondary school students,
---Communities underrepresented in the industry
---Support transition to careers in aviation maintenance, including members of the Armed Forces
---Support educational opportunities related to aviation maintenance in economically disadvantaged geographic areas
