Hoeven Recognizes March for Life, Continues Efforts Protecting the Unborn

Statement

Senator John Hoeven today released the following statement in honor of the annual March for Life events held in North Dakota and Washington, D.C. Hoeven continues his efforts to protect the unborn and the health of mothers and has helped introduce multiple pieces of legislation in the U.S. Senate with respect to the sanctity of life. Through his work on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven remains committed to preserving the Hyde amendment and ensuring taxpayer dollars are prohibited from supporting abortion providers.

"The right to life must be protected and I remain committed to protecting the unborn and the health of mothers," said Hoeven. "Thank you to everyone today in North Dakota and across the nation who are standing up to March for Life. Each child is a blessing, and I am committed to doing everything we can to protect human life."

In addition to his work in previous Congresses and as North Dakota governor, Hoeven has received an A+ grade from the Susan B. Anthony List for his work in the 117th Congress. Last year, Hoeven joined several of his Senate colleagues in submitting an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of the State of Mississippi in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. The brief urges the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold Mississippi's law protecting life and prohibiting abortion after fifteen weeks of pregnancy.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would make it illegal to perform an abortion if the unborn child is 20 weeks or older.
The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2021, which restricts the use of federal funds for abortions.
The Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act, which creates a federal ban on aborting an unborn child after receiving a Down syndrome diagnosis.
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that requires care be provided for an infant born alive following an abortion attempt and imposes penalties for violations.
The Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act to ensure that federal funds do not go to abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, and that women's health care funding is not reduced or adversely affected.
The Support and Value Expectant (SAVE) Moms and Babies Act, which prevents the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from removing critical labeling safeguards from the abortion inducing drug mifepristone.
