Senator John Hoeven today issued the following statement after North Dakota Senate Majority Leader Rich Wardner announced his retirement from the state legislature.

"Senator Wardner has been a pillar of his community and North Dakota, having served in the state legislature for 30 years, 10 of which were spent as Senate Majority Leader. Moreover, he has been an educator, coach and farmer -- truly a range of experience that touches many central aspects of our state. Through his decades of service, hard work and leadership, he has helped shape our state for the better. It's been a privilege to work with him, both during my time as governor and as U.S. Senator. Mikey and I wish him and Kayleen all the best as they approach this new chapter in their lives."
