This week, Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) released the following statement after testing positive with a breakthrough case of COVID-19:

"I recently received a positive COVID-19 test, which I took in preparation for my return to Washington, DC, for the one-year anniversary of the Capitol Insurrection. Since receiving this positive test result, I have cancelled my trip and I am self-isolating at home to keep my staff and our communities safe. Fortunately, I am fully vaccinated and boosted, and I am doing fine, with only mild symptoms at this time. I will continue to serve the CA-34 community remotely until safe to resume in-person events, in accordance with CDC guidelines. During this spike in COVID-19 cases across the country, I highly encourage everyone to do their part to protect their neighbors by getting vaccinated, boosted, and by continuing to wear masks and practice social distancing."
