Congressman Aderholt Statement on U.S. Diplomatic Boycott of Winter Olympics in China

Statement

Date: Dec. 6, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Foreign Affairs

Today, Congressman Robert Aderholt issued the following statement on news that the Biden Administration will diplomatically boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics scheduled for February in China.

"I'm glad the Biden Administration finally decided to make this obvious choice. With China's recent human rights abuses, theft of intellectual property, threats against Taiwan and Hong Kong, and their lack of COVID transparency, I don't think the Chinese Communist Party should be celebrated on the world stage. Our athletes, the best in the world, deserve the opportunity to compete and we look forward to celebrating their athletic performances and medal wins."
