Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) released the following statement honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
"Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, legacy and leadership. A man who committed himself fully to working against all forms of racism in our country, his teachings continue to guide us. Now, as we fight to preserve our democracy, the lessons he taught us are more important than ever.
"On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I encourage everyone to participate in this national day of service. From expanding and protecting voting rights to rooting out systemic racism, we all have a part to play in advancing Dr. King's vision for a more free and just nation for all."
