Congressman Van Taylor Statement on Vote Against Adding $2.5 Trillion to National Debt Ceiling

Statement

Date: Dec. 15, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Monetary Policy

Today, after voting against raising the national debt ceiling, Congressman Van Taylor (TX-03) released the following statement:

"In a desperate attempt to pave a path for their Build Back Broke agenda, Democrats raised the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion, completely turning a blind eye to the highest inflation our nation has seen in nearly forty-years and drowning out the voices of everyday hardworking Americans. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, if the one hundred and fifty new government programs in the Build Back Broke package are made permanent, it would add more than $3 trillion to our national debt. Instead of doing anything to remedy the rising prices, liberals in Congress are further proving their fiscal incompetency and undying loyalty to socialism. Everyday working Americans do not want this bill."
