Rep. Carson Searches for Answers and Solutions at House Intelligence Hearing on Domestic Terrorism

Statement

Date: Nov. 3, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman André Carson (IN-07), the Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence's (HPSCI) Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation Subcommittee, held an open hearing today on countering domestic terrorism.

"Throughout my career serving in law enforcement, intelligence, and national security, and my years serving in Congress, it has been clear to me that domestic terrorism is a serious and growing threat to the safety of Hoosiers and all Americans," said Rep. Carson. "Our federal government has echoed this same concern. Recently, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated that domestic extremism is the greatest threat to America's national security. That's why it's necessary for my committee, House Intelligence, to hold this hearing publicly, so we can share with the public our findings and the advice of experts. I thank my chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff, for placing a greater focus on this critical priority, as well as our witnesses for sharing their expertise. I'll keep working to get answers and find solutions that help keep Americans safe."
