Earlier today, House Armed Services Committee Member Congressman Pat Fallon (TX-04) issued a statement celebrating the inclusion funding for HMMWV Roll Over Mitigation in the final text of the FY22 NDAA.

Congressman Fallon said:

"After reviewing Army and Marine Corps tactical vehicle rollover accidents from FY2010-2019, it was clear that the Biden Administration's original $10 million request or HMMWV upgrades was inadequate.

I am extremely grateful to Chairman Rogers and my colleagues for including my initiative in the final text of the FY22 NDAA. By retrofitting our current fleet, we are saving the Army and our hardworking American taxpayers billions while providing critical safety upgrades that will save lives. The $183 million for the HMMWVs is taxpayer money well spent, and a large portion of those funds will be spent in our very own TX-04, at the Red River Army Depot."

The FY '22 NDAA includes $183 million necessary to retrofit our HMMWV fleet to keep our soldiers safe. There have been more than 150 service members killed and hundreds more injured through multiple accidents due to HMMWV roll overs. The funding to provide the funding to retrofit the existing HMMWV fleet was included in Ranking Member Rogers' Top Line Amendment to the NDAA in committee this September.

Ranking Members Mike Rodgers issued the following statement:

"Rep. Fallon has proven himself to be a leader on the House Armed Services Committee. He has worked hard to ensure that our service members have the funding and tools they need to be prepared for conflict. The NDAA is the most important piece of legislation that Congress produces -- it is bipartisan and bicameral and most of all it protects our national security and supports our troops. I thank Rep. Fallon for his work on this incredibly important piece of legislation."
