Statement from Small Business Committee Ranking Member Rand Paul, M.D. on SBA Funding Planned Parenthood

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, released the following statement regarding the Small Business Administration's funding of Planned Parenthood:

"Small Business Committee minority members have been clear for months that the SBA must be held accountable for using money meant for small businesses to fund Planned Parenthood. The Trump Administration ruled that Planned Parenthood was not a small business and therefore ineligible for SBA funds. The Biden Administration reinstated the awards to Planned Parenthood but is refusing to reveal the documents. Not only is this money a payoff for the Biden Administration's political allies, the money is free from the longstanding prohibition on using taxpayer dollars to pay for abortions. This should be a grave concern to all taxpayers. We have spent months using every tool at our disposal to get the SBA to tell us the truth about what is going on and reverse course with this money. The SBA has stonewalled us at every turn, refusing to answer basic questions or provide even customary oversight information.

"We will not relent on demanding accountability for the Biden Administration's lawless actions. We will not be swayed by events staged to generate press releases and speeches. We will not stop standing up for life. If the SBA will not reverse course, we will not be complicit by providing the SBA additional personnel to continue on their path. President Biden would be well advised to offer his current nominee another position in his administration."
