Congresswoman Scanlon Celebrates Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act at White House Signing Ceremony

Statement

Date: Nov. 15, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Infrastructure

Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05) today attended the bill signing ceremony for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act at the White House. She issued the following statement after joining President Biden, members of Congress, and other stakeholders for the signing:

"After decades of unfulfilled promises to prioritize our nation's infrastructure, today President Biden and Congress delivered. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a win for the American people -- providing the largest investment in public works in generations and creating good-paying, union jobs for working people.

"Bipartisan agreement can be difficult to come by these days, which makes this achievement even more meaningful. I was proud to work alongside the Biden administration, as well as colleagues from both sides of the aisle who were willing to put politics aside and focus on producing positive results for our constituents, to ensure this bill became law. Washington can work when lawmakers put their heads down and direct their energy towards legislating rather than stirring up chaos and grievances. This is what the American people elected us to do.

"With infrastructure that is aging, and in some cases as old as the country itself, there are few places in the United States that stand to benefit from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act as much as the greater Philadelphia area. It was an honor to join President Biden at the White House today to celebrate this historic piece of legislation, and I am eager for the residents of Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District to begin seeing the benefits it will provide for our region."
