"It was great having President Biden back in Michigan to see firsthand the future of American automotive manufacturing and discuss how the bipartisan infrastructure law will improve the way families move, live and work.

"What we saw today was how mobility will transform society in the 21st century -- just as it did in the last century. The electric vehicles that will be built out of Factory ZERO will be highly advanced and completely change the way we get around. The bipartisan infrastructure law will cement Michigan's leadership in innovation by making electric vehicles more accessible and building charging stations across the country.

"I was proud to help pass this bill into law -- and I'll keep working with President Biden to ensure Michigan continues to be a manufacturing powerhouse for generations to come."

Peters helped pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which invests in Michigan infrastructure, including roads, bridges, high-speed internet and the Great Lakes. The legislation will also make the first-ever national investment in EV charging infrastructure and includes $7.5 billion in funding. Under this bill, Michigan will expect to receive $110 million over five years to support the expansion of an EV charging network in the state. Michigan will also have the opportunity to apply for grant funding dedicated to EV charging. This could help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and also support domestic manufacturing to ensure we remain at the forefront of innovation and can remain competitive on the global stage.
