Issues: Environment

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement in response to President Biden's nomination of Debra Shore to become EPA's Regional Administrator for Region 5. Shore will lead the implementation of the Biden-Harris environmental agenda in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and with 35 American Indian tribes:

"Congratulations to Debra Shore on this well-deserved nomination. I have the utmost confidence in her experience and ability to successfully carry out President Biden's environmental mission in Region 5. I had the privilege of working with Deb during her time as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Since 2006, she has demonstrated a commitment to confronting climate change head on with smart, effective policies so our communities can not only be prepared for what lies ahead but can thrive. As someone who started their professional career as staff at EPA's Region 5 office in the 1980s, I could not be more pleased to see Deb lead what I believe to be EPA's most important regional office. I look forward to continuing to work with her to ensuring clean air, clean water, and healthy, productive ecosystems across the Region."
