Senate Passes Hassan-Backed Bipartisan Resolution Designating Week in October as "National 4-H Week"

The U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan resolution cosponsored by Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) to designate one week in October as "National 4-H Week." Senator Hassan participated in 4-H when she was in middle and high school. The resolution supports the designation of October 3 through October 9, 2021 as "National 4-H Week" and recognizes the important role of 4-H in youth development and education.

"I have such fond memories of 4-H as a kid and I know firsthand how this organization can help students grow both personally and academically," Senator Hassan said. "Through 4-H, I learned valuable lessons about responsibility and entrepreneurship, and I am so glad that the Senate passed our resolution to further underscore the importance of this program for students and their families."

4-H, the youth development program of the Cooperative Extension System of land-grant universities, is the largest youth development organization in the nation, supporting nearly six million young people across the country. The organization provides experiences for young people to learn through hands-on projects in the important areas of health, science, agriculture, and civic engagement.
