Harris Announces USDA Wastewater Treatment Loan to Talbot County

Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the approval of a $600,000 USDA loan to Talbot County to finance critical repairs at the Region II Wastewater Treatment Plant. According to USDA "The ability to completely dry the sludge will result in increased processing efficiency at the plant and eliminate the need to have the unprocessed sludge sent off-site for treatment, which resulted in additional costs for hauling and disposal."

Rep. Andy Harris issued the following statement:

"USDA loans like this are critical to allowing our rural communities to upgrade their infrastructure at a price that doesn't result in a spike in taxes on local residents. These repairs will allow the County to improve wastewater processing efficiency and save money both in the short term and long term."
