Today, Congressman Kim announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded over $700,000 in grants that will directly support local fire departments.

"Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day and we must make certain that they have the resources they need to save lives," said Congressman Kim. "I am thrilled to see over $700,000 coming to this district to support our departments and I will continue advocating for better support for all our brave first responders across Burlington and Ocean Counties."

The Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) and Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) were distributed as follows:

The Tabernacle Township received $253,520 for their volunteer recruitment and retention program, which will provide monetary stipends to volunteers who perform shifts at the firehouse, purchase additional new personal protection equipment (PPE), and provide medical evaluations for newly recruited firefighters.
Beverly City received $241,040 for their volunteer recruitment and retention program, which will provide monetary stipends to volunteers, purchase additional PPE, develop a marketing program to recruit new volunteers, and create a salaried part-time program coordinator position.
The Vincent Fire Company received $183,996 for their volunteer recruitment and retention program, which will provide monetary stipends for volunteer members, and purchase additional needed gear.
The Bordentown Fire District 2 received $30,571 to create a fitness program to keep firefighters healthy and injury free.
