Bergman Statement on Red Flag Language in NDAA

Statement

Date: Sept. 26, 2021
Issues: Defense Guns

As your Congressman, I have always and will always oppose federal red flag laws. They set a dangerous precedent and infringe on our 2nd Amendment rights. As many have noted, the FY22 NDAA contains red flag-like language, that Republicans will be sure to strip during negotiations in conference with the Senate.

Most importantly, I have made it abundantly clear to all involved that when this legislation comes up for a final vote - if red flag language has not been stripped from the bill - it's a non-starter and I will not support the National Defense Authorization Act.
