Bishop Will Vote Against Democrats' Inflation Boosting Blank Check

Press Release

Date: Sept. 21, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Dan Bishop (NC-09) will vote against suspending the debt ceiling and passing a continuing resolution (CR), which would give Congressional Democrats a blank check to mortgage America's future through a socialist tax and spending spree:

"Suspending the debt limit would give Democrats the keys to their $3.5 trillion spending package, boosting inflation and bankrupting our country. Democrats want a blank check to promote their socialist agenda and want American families to pay for it. The rising cost of living in this country is already out of control thanks to President Biden and his party, but Democrats remain determined to force socialism on the American people with a reckless $3.5 trillion liberal wish list. Today's vote shows they seem unconcerned about that and are willing to put their far-left priorities above the needs of middle-class Americans. It's the height of irresponsibility, and I will never support such a measure," said Rep. Dan Bishop.

Democrats' vote to suspend the debt ceiling and pass a CR, H.R. 5305, would be a disaster for America. Rather than simply provide a bill to fund the government and provide disaster relief for states, Speaker Pelosi chose to attach a debt limit suspension to the bill. This would provide Democrats a blank check for their radical $3.5 trillion spending package. It's also a cheap tactic for them to share the blame when inflation inevitably skyrockets. If Democrats want to pass their reconciliation package so badly, then they can own everything that happens next.
