Wexton Statement on Return of Bureau of Land Management Headquarters to Washington, DC

Statement

Date: Sept. 17, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) released the following statement on the announcement that the headquarters of the Bureau of Land Management would be moving back to Washington, DC:

"The return of the Bureau of Land Management headquarters to Washington, DC will enable the agency to best carry out its mission.

"The hastily executed relocation by the previous administration forced hundreds of experts out of their positions and handicapped the agency's work. I fiercely opposed the move at the time and warned of the impact it would have on BLM and the federal workers who serve there.

"I've worked closely with the Biden administration to reverse the damage, and applaud this decision by Secretary Haaland to restore the headquarters to our nation's capital."
