Davis Statement on House Democrats Beginning Process to Pass President Biden's Reckless, $3.5 Trillion Tax-and-Spending Spree

Press Release

Date: Aug. 24, 2021

Today, on a partisan vote, the U.S. House of Representatives began the process to pass President Biden's $3.5 trillion spending plan and massive tax hikes on the American economy, including on small businesses and family farms. U.S. Representative Rodney Davis (R-IL) voted no and issued the following statement in response:

"As inflation spirals out of control and our economy rebounds from COVID-19, the Democrats' reckless $3.5 trillion tax-and-spending spree is a disaster waiting to happen.

"Instead of raising taxes and setting government spending at record levels, President Biden and the Democrats who run Congress need to get their priorities straight. We should be focusing our time and energy on evacuating every last American citizen and ally out of Afghanistan, securing our border, and getting inflation under control. Instead, Democrats are wasting precious legislative time on fulfilling the President's campaign promises in an attempt to salvage his reputation. That is wrong, and the American people deserve better."
