Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Michael Guest opposed the appropriations minibus package considered in the House of Representatives. This spending package passed along party lines (219-209). The minibus included appropriations bills for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies; Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies; Financial Services and General Government; Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies; Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.

"Unfortunately, House Democrats are pushing appropriations bills that are going to add billions of dollars to our rising national debt. I am also concerned with the radical attempt to end the Hyde Amendment, which protects taxpayer dollars from being used to perform abortions and has received bipartisan support for decades," Guest said. "Instead of a bipartisan effort, my colleagues across the aisle have passed an appropriations package filled with partisan spending items that promote the progressive agenda."

Congressman Guest cosponsored numerous Pro-Life amendments to this legislation, which the House Democratic Majority did not allow to be considered during Floor debate.
