Congressman Fred Keller statement on Oversight Committee budget markup

Statement

Date: Sept. 2, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Fred Keller (PA-12) participated in the House Oversight and Reform Committee's hearing to begin debate on the committee's portion of funds to be allocated as part of House Democrats' $3.5 trillion budget proposal.

After the hearing, Congressman Keller made the following statement:

"Today's hearing was the latest step in Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden's radical plans to ram through trillions of dollars in wasteful spending while raising taxes on working Americans to pay for it. Rather than addressing the multitude of crises that President Biden has created by his own failed leadership, Washington Democrats are instead considering a proposal to give the Postal Service a new fleet of electric cars, among other misguided provisions considered during today's markup. These are the upside-down priorities of a majority party which has routinely abdicated this committee's responsibility to conduct proper oversight on matters of national importance, such as getting every remaining American citizen safely out of Afghanistan."
