Newhouse Announces $9 Million in Grants to Improve Local Airport Infrastructure

Today, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) announced that municipal airports in Washington's 4th Congressional District received a combined $9 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation Administration's Federal Aviation Administration for much-needed infrastructure improvements. These grants were allocated by funding secured by Rep. Newhouse in the Fiscal Year 2021 Appropriations process.

"Local airports spur a significant amount of economic development throughout our district and provide a steady source of income for our communities," said Rep. Newhouse. "These grants are a substantial federal investment that will allow these airports to improve safety and increase our infrastructure connectivity to bring further economic prosperity to Washington."

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the following grants:

$6,085,230 to Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority (Pangborn Memorial) to reconstruct the apron and apron lighting.
$1,034,619 to the City of Yakima (Yakima Air Terminal/McAllister Field) to rehabilitate the apron.
$2,671,267 to the Port of Benton (Richland) to acquire or rehabilitate an emergency generator, install airfield guidance signs, and install miscellaneous navigational aids.
