Today, House Democrats rejected an amendment offered by Congressman Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) on Biden's Executive Order #13985: Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government. Hagedorn's amendment would prohibit the use of federal funds to implement Biden's Executive Order and ensure all Americans are treated equally.

Hagedorn released the following statement:

"President Biden's Executive Order claims to have a noble purpose and appears to mandate equity in federal government decisions, when in fact the effect is just the opposite -- mandating the federal government to provide preference based upon race and identity," said Congressman Hagedorn.

"In the House Small Business Committee, we have seen firsthand the adverse effects of race and identity-based discrimination. The Biden Administration and Democrats established a priority list for disbursement of Restaurant Revitalization Programs funds. The $28.6 billion fund was quickly depleted, with more than 100,000 restaurant owners, virtually all white males, denied funding.

"True equality is achieved with equal treatment for all, not just by prioritizing certain groups of individuals. As Chief Justice Roberts has notably written, "The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race." We must reject all forms of discrimination and provide everyone with equal treatment and equal opportunity."
