Casey Announces New Funding for Low-Income Housing Restoration Project in Appropriations Bill

Today, U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is announcing the inclusion of $2.1 million in congressionally directed spending for the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) Built to Last program in the Senate Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill. The Philadelphia Energy Authority is an independent municipal authority focused on building a robust, clean energy economy. PEA plans to use the funding to begin its Built to Last program, with the goal of eventually reaching 10,000 homes by 2032.

"Every family deserves a safe, reliable and affordable home to raise their children and create community," said Senator Casey. "With this funding, the Philadelphia Energy Authority will be able to restore affordable housing for years to come, so residents can rely on safe, secure and comfortable housing, helping them build community wealth. I will continue to work to pass this spending bill to bring home resources to Philadelphia."

On August 4, 2021, the FY22 Energy and Water Development Appropriations Bill was reported out of Committee on a vote of 25 to 5.
