Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) issued the following statement on the passage of the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill in the Senate:

"On Tuesday, the Senate passed the historic bipartisan infrastructure bill. This $1 trillion package will provide a once in a generation investment in our nation's crumbling roads and bridges, bolster our efforts to fight climate change, and give our economy the kick-start it needs as we continue to build back better from the COVID-19 pandemic. This bill includes the largest investment in public transit in history, and the largest investment in rail since Amtrak.

"Still, we must remember that investing in our human infrastructure -- like child care, universal pre-k, and paid leave -- is equally important to the success of our nation and hardworking families. Only through bold policy can we make the bold change needed to keep American on track and ensure everyone has a shot at the American dream."
