Nancy Pelosi Discards TX-25 Priorities in Partisan Appropriations Process

Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) issued the following statement regarding his amendments to the appropriation bills this week:

"I was proud to introduce seven amendments to improve broadband and telehealth access, support military families, and prohibit federal funds for state and local governments that defund the police- all priorities for my constituents," said Congressman Williams. "Nancy Pelosi's deputies took no time at all before discarding every one of those seven amendments to next year's federal spending package. The heavy fist with which she rules the House chamber ignores the pressing challenges that Texans face, and provides no opportunity for our constituents' voices to be heard.

Democrats ignored my amendment to increase broadband loan and grant programs by $70 million, a priority for many rural Texans who are left behind in the digital divide. They opposed my amendment to increase "impact aid" funding to $41 million next year, so that our schools surrounding Fort Hood can provide the best possible education for military and Texan families. Democrats struck down my amendments to increase telehealth funding for rural constituents who seek critical medical care in the comfort of their own home. Democrats rejected my amendment to protect law abiding gun owners from being subjected to gun buyback programs and unchecked red flag laws. Speaker Pelosi continues to lead the most partisan Congresses we've ever seen, and her penchant to reject conservative opinions and concerns while embracing the agenda of the liberal elite should concern every taxpayer in America."
