Chabot Says Gitmo is Essential to War on Terror

02/16/06

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Cincinnati), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on the Constitution and a member of the House International Relations Committee, today criticized a U.N. report calling for the United States to shut down the terrorist prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

"Guantanamo Bay holds very dangerous terrorists who will stop at nothing to kill innocent Americans," said Chabot. "Unlike the so-called experts from the U.N., I have seen first hand the important role this facility plays in our war on terror. From my experiences at Guantanamo, I am confident that the young men and women serving in the military are committed to ensuring our security and treating detainees in an appropriate manner."
