Rep. Takano Secures $6 Million to Fund Community Development Projects Across Riverside County

The House Committee on Appropriations passed the FY22 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill, as well as the FY22 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill, which together include $6,050,000 that Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) helped secure to fund seven community development projects across Riverside County.
The projects that were funded in the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill are:
Inland Empire Technical Trade Center: $1,500,000
Downtown Perris Skills Training and Job Placement Center: $1,000,000
Riverside County Early Learning and Literacy Project: $1,000,000
Parkview Legacy Foundation: $625,000
Path of Life Ministries Employment Pipeline: $250,000
The projects that were funded in the FY22 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill:
UCR Opportunities to Advance Sustainability, Innovation, and Social Inclusion Clean Technology Park: $1,500,000
Consortium of Early Learning Services Childcare Expansion Project: $175,000
"I submitted funding requests for projects that have the power to transform our community and improve the lives of my constituents," said Rep. Mark Takano. "These projects will develop our workforce, modernize our infrastructure, support our young people, and combat the devastating effects of climate change -- all of which are fundamental needs in the Inland Empire. The work does not stop here, but I am delighted that we have taken this first step to bringing these projects to fruition, and I will continue advocating for further investments in Riverside County."
Rep. Takano secured funding for these projects through a process established by the House Committee on Appropriations known as community project funding. The inclusion of this funding in the committee's draft bill is one step in the funding process. Rep. Takano will continue to fight for this funding as the bill moves to consideration in the House of Representatives, and negotiations with the Senate.
