Press Release

Date: July 1, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

WASHINGTON -- Today, Rep. Veasey joined his colleagues to pass the INVEST in America Act, which includes critical funding that Veasey secured for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in North Texas. The INVEST in America Act makes transformational investments in America's highways, roads, bridges, transit, rail, and water infrastructure to create jobs, modernize our infrastructure and reduce carbon pollution. This legislation puts some of the key pieces of President Biden's infrastructure vision into legislative text.

Support for North Texas projects include:

- Over $15 million for Fort Worth Transportation Authority (Trinity Metro)
- Over $2 million for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)

"Bolstering North Texas' infrastructure and creating good jobs for hardworking Texans is a top priority of mine," said Rep. Veasey. "Today, I was proud to go to bat for my constituents to help bring our nation's infrastructure into the modern era and secure funding for local projects by voting for the INVEST in America Act. For too long, Congress has failed to act boldly when it comes to our infrastructure, leaving our country with congested roads, failing sewer systems, lead in our pipes, unsafe bridges, infrequent and unreliable bus service, and slow-moving trains. It's time to build back better, reconnect communities, and restore our global competitiveness with the INVEST in America Act, legislation that will help create millions of good-paying jobs and support U.S. manufacturing. This legislation will also put our country on a path toward zero emissions in the transportation sector by providing historic investments in transit, rail, electric vehicle charging, and alternative modes of transportation."
