Help Is Here: Rep. Cleaver Announces Over $7.5 Billion in American Rescue Plan Payments Have Gone to Hardworking Missourians This Year

Press Release

Today, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) announced that hardworking Missourians throughout the State have received over 3.1 million Economic Impact Payments totaling more than $7.5 billion in 2021. The Economic Impact Payments were secured as part of the American Rescue Plan, a transformative relief package Congressman Cleaver helped to pass in March.

"I have heard from countless Missourians who were able to keep food on the table or a roof over their head because of the substantial survival checks provided by the American Rescue Plan," said Congressman Cleaver. "At a time when the American people were struggling to stay afloat financially, Democrats in Congress were determined to ensure our neighbors and communities had this vital relief to pay rent and keep local small businesses from going under. It is because of these payments, as well as the administration of hundreds of millions of vaccines funded by the American Rescue plan, that our economy has been able to add over three million jobs in the first five months of the Biden Administration. We still have a lot of work to do to recover from the pandemic, but I'm proud to have supported these payments, and I'm thankful they've been so beneficial to hardworking Missouri families."

Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, more than 163 million Americans received Economic Impact Payments of up to $1,400 this year. More than half of this direct relief has gone to households making less than $50,000.
