Today, Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández announced over $3.3 million in COVID relief funds to Homewise, Santa Fe Community Housing Trust, and the Native Partnership for Housing to help create successful homeowners, address affordable housing issues, and promote long-term financial wellbeing.
The grants were made through the U.S. Department of Treasury's community development financial institutions Rapid Response Program to respond to economic challenges created by the pandemic, particularly in underserved communities.
"I'm thrilled to see this funding for nonprofits dedicated to building strong, vibrant communities," said Leger Fernández. "New Mexicans lost their livelihoods and put any savings they had towards surviving the pandemic. Housing instability and the shortage of affordable housing is hurting our working families as they see homeownership become a vanishing dream. As we build back from the pandemic, we must get more families into affordable homes, build financial stability and mobility, and help our underserved communities."
Grant amounts are below:
Homewise: $1,826,265
Santa Fe Community Housing Trust: $732,000
Native Partnership for Housing, Inc: $797,000
