Congressman Gonzalez Applauds DHS, VA Effort to Bring Deported Veterans Home

Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement in response to today's announcement from the Departments of Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs to identify and bring wrongly deported service members, veterans, and their immediate family members home:

"I applaud Secretaries Mayorkas and McDonough for this new initiative to bring our deported heroes and their family members home. These individuals served our nation, call America home and deserve to be in this country. It's our responsibility to provide our servicemembers and their families a pathway to citizenship and it's clear we've failed them in this regard. While this is an important step, we need to codify this initiative with bipartisan legislation, like the Repatriate Our Patriots Act, to ensure no administration can deport our honorable veterans in the future."
