Kuster Highlights Work to Bolster Rural Development, Questions Experts on Paths Forward During Agriculture Hearing

Washington, D.C. -- Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), a member of the House Agriculture Commodity Exchanges, Energy, and Credit Subcommittee, participated in a Subcommittee hearing entitled, "Examining Opportunities for Growth and Investment in Rural America." The Subcommittee heard from industry experts about projected agricultural growth in rural America as the nation continues rebuilding from COVID-19, and steps Congress can take to help ensure a robust recovery and continued development.

"For our nation to thrive as we recover from this pandemic, we need to make sure no part of the country is left behind, especially our rural communities," said Rep. Kuster. "From expanded affordable housing to accessible high-speed broadband, there are forward-looking, innovative steps Congress can take to support development and growth in rural areas. I look forward to working with my colleagues on this Committee to advance the needs of rural America in the next Farm Bill, as well as in upcoming infrastructure proposals."

Rep. Kuster has been a consistent advocate for New Hampshire's farmers and producers, bringing the voices of Granite Staters to Congress. Last week, Kuster visited the Warner Public Market, a locally-owned marketplace on Main Street, and met with co-owner Bret Ingold to discuss challenges and opportunities in developing a sustainable, resilient local food system in New Hampshire.
