Dr. Joyce Statement on SCOTUS Obamacare Ruling

Statement

Date: June 17, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Joyce M.D. (PA-13), a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in California v. Texas.

"As a doctor who practiced before and during the Obamacare-era, I understand firsthand that the so-called Affordable Care Act is far from affordable for American patients. Despite today's disappointing setback, Congress must continue to pursue legislative solutions to cut health care costs, improve patient choices, protect Americans with pre-existing conditions, eliminate burdens, and incentivize innovation. As a nation, we cannot afford to slide further toward a socialist, one-size-fits-all health care system that stifles innovation and eliminates personalized care and patient options."

Dr. Joyce, who practiced under the ACA, has prioritized commonsense reforms to the health care system.

During the 116th Congress, Dr. Joyce helped to lead the Republican Study Committee (RSC) Health Care Task Force, which developed a framework to advance personalized, affordable health care options.
