(Washington, DC)--Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), made the following statement today after the House Appropriations Committee approved his proposal for the Arbor Day Foundation to help expand and sustainably manage Lincoln, Nebraska's urban tree canopy.

"Urban forests are critical to environmental health. This is an exciting new project for the Arbor Foundation to help lead tree-planting in the city of Lincoln, and create a model template for America's urban canopy," Fortenberry said.
