Assistant Speaker Clark on the Passage of the Select Committee Resolution

Statement

Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on House passage of the Select Committee to Investigate the Attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

"The attack on our democracy on January 6, 2021 was a dark and painful day for our country. We need a full accounting of what transpired so we can memorialize the truth for the American people and address the dangerous rise of white supremacy. We cannot allow questions to go unanswered and accountability to be dismissed. The Select Committee is a necessary step to understand the lies and hate that fueled the violence that day and assess the threats that still face our nation."
